Ellen Mandeville earned her BA in English Literature from UC, Santa Cruz. Having prayed for an outdoorsy boyfriend, she got a bit more than she expected in her husband, with whom she lived for eight years on their 34-foot sailboat. As a mother of two now living in the mountains of Idaho, along with sailing, she also skis, bikes, runs, and camps, but most days she resembles her university mascot, the banana slug, while working on her first book.
