Luke’s Gospel records a conversation between a lawyer and Jesus in which the Law is summarized as loving God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind and loving your neighbor as yourself. The lawyer asks this telling question, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus then tells the Parable of the Good Samaritan, defining neighborly love as being involved with and showing mercy to anyone whose path crosses our own.

To be neighborly like the Good Samaritan requires intentionality. And that’s something Spread Truth Ministries can help with through its resource titled Life as We Know It, available free for Christ and Pop Culture members.

Life as We Know It is a group resource that facilitates sharing crucial and meaningful life stories to build deeper community. Each person completes a My Story Book that is split into four chapters: Beginnings, Obstacles, Hope, and Future. Each chapter prompts participants to prepare a personal story that shaped them most in life. Stories are shared over four meetings; one meeting for each chapter.

This is unique resource in the marketplace because it works for community building both inside and outside of the church.

Inside the church, it can be used for small groups, Bible fellowship classes, mission teams, ministries teams, and staff members. Sharing life stories allows us to learn of mutual struggles and triumphs, bonding us together for deeper fellowship and ministry.

Outside the church, it can be used build community with non-Christian family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Because the resource does not overtly present the Gospel, it is a welcoming tool that allows the believer to simply and purely seek to know and love neighbors as Jesus commanded.

Spread Truth Ministries believes that as we share our stories, God’s story of redemption will surface. Life as We Know It becomes a natural way to begin Gospel conversations with people who need to know the love of Jesus. The free Host Boxes have everything you need to start a group with another person you would like to know better, including a Host Guide, two My Story Books, and the Questions in a Box conversation starter set.
