The surprise drop of the anthem, Formation the day before her controversial Super Bowl performance, and the surprise drop of her visual album Lemonade have taken the former Destiny’s Child singer to new levels of pop culture influence. But is the influence something that reflects the good, the truthful and beautiful in our culture?

Fixing things is what Chip and Joanna do on their HGTV show Fixer Upper which just wrapped its third season with a fourth due out later this year. The infectious joy and humor of the married couple, partnered with the ever present family always on camera shows a model of marriage, working together, and plain fun entertainment that has captured the attention of nearly everyone who has seen it.

Not to be undone by Beyoncé 2016 or HGTV is Hail, Caesar!, one of the best films of the year from the Coen Brothers. Touching on religious imagery, the golden era of Hollywood, and the trademark humor found in the Coen’s films, Hail, Caesar! could be the surprise nomination that tap dances its way onto the list for 2016.
