As the article points out, it’s not actually a new low in the least but a continuation of an old one. I can’t count how many “not my President” shirt, bumper sticker, etc. with President Bush’s face plastered on it I saw. Or claims that he was a murderer, got sadistic pleasure from dead American soldiers, was a religious nut, etc.
It is childish on both sides. As participants in the electoral process, we bind ourselves to whoever comes out on top. The losing side goes home and fights again later. Harsh criticism is alright. Questioning legitimacy hurts more than the current Adminstration. President Obama is my President and my generic opposition to many of his views doesn’t change that fact.
Okay, granted I don’t live in San Francisco, but I think it speaks highly of my environment that I’ve never seen a Not My President sticker or shirt or whatever. I’ve seen other die-partisan lamenesses and Prop 8 was a nightmare, but…
Where exactly do you live Dane…you don’t know party girls and you’ve never seen a “Not My President” bumper sticker. Come on, be honest, you live in a bomb shelter, or some kind of a secluded Christian compound, don’t you?
Nearly. I live in South Orange County, home of the beautiful people.
And I never said I didn’t know girls who liked to party, just not those quote-unquote dirty girls. While working in restaurants, I knew several girls who were into drugs, drinks, and dancing—but they were all nice girls. But none of the teens I work with seem to be headed in the direction of the dirty girl cultural expression.
Dane, it does speak well of your SoCal local. I know, tacky, but I couldn’t resist ;)
I saw a bumper sticker this weekend that said:
“I’ll keep my money, my freedom, and my guns. You can keep the Change.”
Very lame. But dang clever. Darnit.
