Another posthumous J.R.R. Tolkien publication (once again edited by son Christopher Tolkien) is coming our way, though this one isn’t a saga of Middle Earth. Instead, it’s a retelling (which, I guess, means “not an exact translation”) of the Norse legend of Sigurd the Volsung. HarperCollins will publish the text as The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun. Come on, you know you always wanted to know what happened to the Niflungs.

  1. Nope, haven’t read Children of Hurin yet. I’d rather just re-read The Lord of the Rings for the eleventy-first time.

  2. Yeah, I’m always skeptical of works in which the author didn’t hold enough confidence to publish during his life time. But as it’s much shorter than LotR, I think CoH fits better into my reading schedule than the trilogy.
