O’Connor is my favorite 20th century fiction writer. The Violent Bear It Away and short stories such “The Lame Shall Enter First” are deep and thoughtful. She had a great taste for showcasing the depravity of human nature…and a glimmer of supernatural grace that can break into it.
The first-ever substantial biography of O’Connor was just published last month–I hope I’ll have time to read and review it one of these days.
