Take That, Lil Wayne
Patrol has a chart of music grouped by smartness:
Of course, a study like this only proves correlation, not causation. Lil Wayne might not make you dumb —- you might listen to him because you’re already dumb. My guess is that it has more to do with environment than intelligence.

Does anyone else this that it is funny (not in the laughing, but the sad way) that Christian music is correlated low (see gospel on the far left and Jars of Clay maxing out at 1106) and Radiohead/college radio making the top spots?

I’d say it’s probably to be expected. Generally the kind of person who listens primarily to CCM comes from a sub-culture that does not itself emphasize thought for oneself. I.E., dogma over invention. With more emphasis on adhering to the tenets of faith (and their active expression) than anything else, it makes sense that a lesser emphasis would be placed on scholasticism.
Of course, as Rich points out, all of this speaks more to the particular sub-cultures represented and not necessarily so much the actual music itself. Pre-supposing the study is even accurate, of course.
That said, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out also that actively CCM makes people dumb.

hahahaha wow so pretty much if you listen Lil Wayne you are dumb? Hmm that has to be one of the stupidest things anyone can say. Maybe you think it is dumb because you can not fully understand his analogies or his metaphors. So how about you sit down with a pencil and paper and try to comprehend what he is trying to say. Maybe then you can somewhat understand the music, and stop calling people dumb.
Jose, apparently, doesn’t understand what correlation means.
