Apparently, she’d actually shared over 1700 songs over Kazaa – it’s just the 24 that she’s being tried on. Still seems like a ridiculous penalty, though.

I wonder how much money the recording industry used to bribe the jury. That is just a ridiculous penalty, to quote Dane.

I realised my comment was too long so I have responded to this on my blog.
I sort of agree with Lex. I don’t fileshare, but I do think filesharing should probably be legal. I don’t believe really believe in intellectual property and think the idea is damaging to a culture, harmful to a society. I do believe in copyrights, but for no more than a couple years before lapsing into the public domain (give a creator sole domain over his creation before letting others try their hand at it).
