There’s no doubt that miscommunication and misunderstanding creates lots of unnecessary problems, but does Obama really think the tension between Americans and Muslims can be solved with a bit more communication?

  1. Among the radicals, nope. And “solve” the tension, nope. But among the regular folk that make up the majority of the population, the right kind of communication can at least ease some tension. That is why Al Queda is trying so desperately to get people to not listen to the new voice of America. The old voice helped them recruit and fan the flame; they think this new voice, while not making people suddenly pro-America, will at least cool the burn. Is that really such a bad direction to try and head?

  2. It’s not a bad direction to head at all! I am all for the game plan if it works. It just seems naive to me to think that these two worldviews just need better communication to get along. But I’d be more than pleased to be wrong.

  3. Ah, then the answer to your question is a no-brainer.

According to his speech and his actions, Obama does not think the tension between Americans and Muslims can be solved with a bit more communication. Likewise, according to his speech and his actions, Obama does not think that these two world views JUST need better communication to get a long.

Never said it, never implied it, and has made clear he thinks there is a lot more than just communication needed.

Now for the next burning question: do all Protestants really believe that there is no God?

The Dane: It makes me cringe to think that Wiley Drake is out there claiming to represent my Christ. Can I assume I’m not alone on that? (Although he did get one thing right – murdering a doctor does not help the cause. Can someone explain to him that rejoicing in and publicly praying for that murder also does not help the cause?)

  4. Yeah, I cringe to think that someone so high up in the SBC hierarchy doesn’t have the foggiest notion of the place of imprecatory prayer in New Testament life… That whole “brings mockery upon the brotherhood” bit? This guy’s got it in spades.
